The beginnings of Tideflow’s API

As we are moving towards integrating with third party systems and as part of our commitment to empower our tool, we have developed the first version of Tideflow’s API.

Besides that at the moment its functionality is very reduced, we will continue to extend its capabilities.

Check the documentation for more information.

User authentication tokens

Tideflow’s authentication tokens allows users and systems to interact with any aspect of the API, so we have included the hability for anyone to create tokens via the profile screen.

To list your authentication tokens go to your user’s profile.

New section in the user profile to manage tokens.

Originally designed for mobile applications, we understand that no one likes to copy or introduce manually a random tokens or details in different apps. That’s why when you create a token you will be presented a QR code you can scan to automatically setup your apps.

This QR code contains all necessary details for applications to work with Tideflow.

Users and workflows can create files and connect them to their workflows. A couple of use cases:

  • You can upload a file to Tideflow, for example, a greeting PDF for new users. Then, make your workflow to send it you your users when they signup to your website.
  • When certain action happens if your workflows, you might want to have a file as proof. You can automatically store the file within the Files section.
  • When a workflow generates a PDF file, you can design the process so it will store the file. You will be able to access it from the new “Files” section in Tideflow.
New files section allows you create, edit and download files directly from the browser.

We have also added a pre-set of commonly used templates to save you time and serve as an starting point for covering your needs. We will be adding tons of aditional templates soon in the future.

File templates

Custom PDF file templates

The PDF integration has been rewritten from its roots. Now, thanks to the new Files functionality explained above, you can generate custom PDF files from HTML templates.

This will allow to easily create custom PDF files, and even customising its contents with workflows data!

For example, when a user submits a webform with its username on it, you can use the following template to generate a PDF and get it sent to the user’s email inbox.

A workflow to send custom greeting cards to users

The following template will generate this PDF file.

<h1>Hello {{username}}!</h1>
<p>We are very happy to have you onboard!</p>

Other updates from 0.11:

  • Updated to latest MeteorJS 1.9.
  • NodeJS bumped to 12.14 LTS.
  • Reduced number of calls to the database during workflows execution.
  • Other small improvements, fixes, etc.

We hope you like Tideflow 0.11 as much as we do. We will be releasing the new version’s docker image this week. In the meanwhile, if you encounter any issue, please share it with us! https://github.com/tideflow-io/tideflow/issues
